Update 14/11/01 DJ Muggs has signed to 'Epitath' and releases his third solo album around feb next year. Cypress Hill's new album drops next month with guests from Everlast & Kurupt. Ugly Duckling just dropped their latest double 12 release 'A Little Samba' featuring a remix with People Under The Stairs, plus a new track 'Do Your Thing'. Lexicons 12" 'Its The L' (Spytech) is making noise, its fresh with beats from DJ Cheapshot, so pick up the LP of the same name. Because of bootlegging Ras Kass has been pushed back "Van Gogh" until the Spring of 2002. More tracks will be added, including an appearance from Havoc. After selling over 60K independently, the duo Mad Child and Prevail follow up "Balance" with "Bad Dreams" feat Evidence, DJ Revolution, Buc Fifty, DJ Babu & Moka Only. It has some heavy prod by Rob The Viking, The Alchemist, Evidence, Joey Chavez, and more. Back with more rumors on the new Pac

Campaign For Those Who Love That Gangsta Sh*t: DJ Quik DVD DJ QUIK DVD Shooting began last week in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for the upcoming DJ QUIK dvd/vhs. As we all know DJ Quik is one of the most underrated artists/producers in the game and very little is really known about him. Look for his all access DVD/VHS to release in March 2002 Eternal Rhythm
Records Finally its coming! For all the heads that have been waiting for a worthy emcee to lace you with a lil more than just bling bling & gun play, A.D. (Another Dimension) is due to release his album very soon. Here is a taster "Its All Love". His first official release through his label Eternal Rhythm Records has been in the works for sometime and now due to a large Pressing and Distribution agreement with a larger label he is about to be in all ya'ls nieghborhood real soon with his banger "Cali Rhyme Lotion". stay tuned eternalrhythmrecords.com. Sneed's Back! Before I go, the brand new 12" from former Death Row artist Sam Sneed "The Golden Child" (Stream) feat Tigga, from his official "Street Scholars Ent" production company. Sneed had a huge hand in creating that vintage, good Death Row sound and had a completed album, shot a video for "Hollywood Squares". That album is LOCKED in that record labels vault. Requested Quik Shit This my last update.......According to sohh.com DJ QUIK looks set to release his next LP early next yr on Bungalo Records. In addition to being home to a hot roster of artists (Quik, Coolio, Suga Free, Hi-C and Chill (of Compton's Most Wanted)), Bungalo, who will be distributed by Universal Music Distribution will host labels like Quik's Euponic Records, Tony Lane's Lane Way Records & Organized Rhyme headed by Tony Haynes. I know you dig Quik's shit so ive upped a few underground joints. Heres one of a few tracks produced by & featuring DJ Quik from Shello's 1994 LP The Homegirl, 'Good Thang' (Stream). This is '2 Skanless' from Hi-C's classic 1991 release Skanless, produced by Tony A & featuring Dj Quik, 2nd 2 None (KK) & AMG, I doubt you have this one 'Break Bread' (Stream) with AMG & J Flexx, then you got Dj Quiks fonky as FUCK mix of 'Freak N U Know It' (Stream) by Adina Howard. Speaking of Adina check this cool pic I took when Warren G, 5 Footaz, Twinz & Adina hit the UK in 1995 :) 2 last treats & 2 tracks that ive not upped in full due to the bootleggers. ULTRA RARE! 'Lets Git Together' (Stream) Suga Free & Dj Quik prod by Quik & prolly the best unreleased song ever 'Inside Out' (Stream) by Suga Free & Dj Quik again. Since day 1 our audio has been getting distributed by MP3 groups on mIRC, now If youve noticed OUR audio does NOT come from mIRC, unlike most websites. They bootleg our shit! But i'm doing my best to get MP3/mIRC trading stopped. Unfortunately, the RIAA can only act on behalf of theyre member labels and thus are not at liberty to act legally yet, tho were waiting for a few records to get ripped & mIRC will be no longer! If your copyrighted material is being infringed upon by this shit, I suggest that you seek an outside counsel. Im from England but moving back to Spain real soon, my picture should be here. So this is my last update on WCA, one of the best westcoast pages out & always will be! Ive still got a lot of promo shit that will get premiered here through some of the new cats taking over. Our old news got slept on, peep that too here.........Thanks for taking time reading the updates, anyone ive spoken to, all my peoples hooking up links, a homie I hardly know DR2G for letting ppl know the real, we havent once reported a false piece of info & the haters who used/continue to compete like kids & throw html disses, sit down & think about what the fuck u are doing or repping (a god damn website).......... The Southern Cali bred RnB star & younger brother of singer/actress Brandy dropped the club banging Lil Kim cameo 'Wait A Minute' single off it & its got the hot 'Out The Ghetto' a track produced by Neptunes & features Shorty Mack, his artist from Knockout Entertainment. Ive heard Devante (Jodeci) is signed also, & has been working on Crooked I's debut due out soon. Neither RnB figures have done anything with Above The Law yet. Also tharow.com is reporting 2 new faces Eastwood & Spider, I believe Spider is of Mexican origin & tight as fuck. Our affiliates RAWMUSICTV.com have a new interview with Benzino!!! Need a favor I'm working on a campaign to get a Rick

e-mail to the following address: therickjamesdvd@hotmail.com Hot new single Here is a minute clip of the hot new single from Samaria & Neb Luv 'Gimi Sum' shit is fonky! Purchase it here Mad requests to re-up this, MC Hammer's full version of "Unconditional Love" (Stream) which was originally a track from the late 2Pac, that appeared on Pac's Greatest Hits. Hammer DID record material with 2Pac, one track they did was a remake of the Ohio Players Skin Tight titled "Too Tight", it was Hammer's concept, but Pac wrote his verse & I believe brought in Ebony on background vocals. As you know Hammer was tight with Suge back in the 80's & part of the Death Row family in 96. Tho due to the problems at the label during that time & Suge not being able to market his artists as he does, he then moved on & created his indi label 'Defence'. MASTA ACE Tribute, NYC Update Kool G Rap's new LP The Giancianna Files on Rawkus has been pushed back to 2002. The album will be hot with beats by Hi-tek, Premier, Buckwild, Neptunes, Rockwilder, Goldfinghaz, DJ Scratch, Young Lord & Grease! and guests from Ghostface, Mobb Deep & Mary J Blige. Here is the brand new HOTTEST joint out right now 'My Life' (Stream) Kool G Rap ft. G Wise, The video for this has just been completed. (Sorry about the intro, had my record button pressed n didnt have time to edit it) Two of my favorite websites just put up 2 cuts from one of my favorite MCs MASTA ACE. WCkillaz got the new cut P.T.A featuring King T & J-Ro (of Tha Liks) & Too Gangtsa 'Terror' from Sittin On Chrome. Let me enlighten you on this pure lyricist.
On Xmas 1985 Ace won 1st prise in a Queens rap contest = recording time at Marley Marls studio, where he worked on his demo. Ace released his 1st single Letter To the Better in 89' (I think). In 1990 he signed wit Warner Bros to relese his 1st LP Take A Look Around on they Cold Chillin imprint. He left in 93 for Delicious Vinyl & released tha epic Slaughahouse then in 95 relesed Sittin On Chrome. Now as Sittin On Chrome is one of my fav all-time albums heres 3 cuts from it 'INC Ride' (Stream), the album introduced his new crew, "The INC" (Lord Digga, Paula Perry & Leschea) You may remember that track from Yo! MTV Raps (Back when Yo! was watchable). 'U Cant Find Me' (Stream) you'l luv that one to! and lastly 'Terror' (Stream), I used to listen to this every morning on the way too school. In 98 my man Duval took time out from rapping & in 99 was doing shit in philly with Jazzy Jeff, last year he dropped 12"s on Duckdown & the Game Over CD. After more than five years since, Sittin On Chrome, Masta Ace is back with a new album Disposable Arts. Scheduled for Oct 30. The album features appearances from Apocalypse, Punch N Words, Tone Deff, Greg Nice, Jane Doe, Jean Grae, MC Paul Barmn, Strick, Young Z, King T, J-Ro, Leschea and Rah Digga. Production by Luis 'Sabor' Tineo, Paul Nice, Ayatollah, Xplicit, Gerrard C. Baker, Koolade, Rodney Hunter, Domingo, DJ Rob, 3D and Deacon Da Villain. Did you think id finnished? Well I havent, because ive got some underground joints I wanna get on for Ace which i know you wont have heard. A song that was made for his 4th album, recorded in 96/97 tho due to the stronghold Bad Boy Records had on the industry, this didnt get a chance at the time. "Most record labels & A&Rs were being Puff Daddy dick riders & demanded a sound closer to what they were doing". This would have been the follow up collab of Saukrates & Ace to 'Top 10 List' in 1997. Shabaaam Shadeeeq came with the same loop after this was made! "Dopes, Pushers, Addicts" (Stream) A lil outlook on life, freinds & loyalty in crime infected streets. Aces high school quarterback Mike Walker makes his debut with a lil comment @ the end of the song.
This didnt make it onto the Sittin On Chrome LP. Grand Puba used the same loop on his second LP. "So Here We Are" (Stream) Ace went after all the NWA Wannabes & fake studio gangsters that started poppin up in 92/93. This ethic was carried over & became the back drop to the Slaughtahouse LP in 93. Ace took the role of a homeless man. The title & concept went out the window when the Common Sense "Can I Get A Dollar' LP dropped a couple yrs later. Masta Ace can be contacted at damasta4@yahoo.com New

Sad News Just as Bay Area folks were beginning to grapple with the Aaliyah situation, they got hit with another sudden and tragic loss. San Francisco rapper Coughnut of the pioneering group Ill Mannered Posse was killed in a car accident late Monday night. His death sent shockwaves especially among many of the homeboys. Coughnut was a long time fixture on the Bay rap scene. His trademark gruff voice and bigger then life personality touched many. He and his crew arguably had San Francisco's first underground street hit back in the late 80s called 'Scandalous'. The flipside was the more radio friendly 'I'm Rolling' which borrowed from George Clinton's 'Atomic Dog'. Other classic songs from Coughnut included 'Don't Get It Twisted', and 'Shining Star'. I had run into Coughnut about two weeks ago and he told me he was working on some new material. Many were eagerly anticipating his return to the rap scene that he helped sparked. If memory serves me correctly, he was also set to do a few shows around the Bay Area. (CUT/PASTED COURTESY DAVEYD.COM) New

Heres MC Hammer's single from last year "Pop Your Collar" (Stream). As you know Hammer was tight with Suge back in the 80's & part of the Death Row family in 96. Tho due to the problems at the label during that time & Suge not being able to market his artists as he does, he then moved on & created his indi label 'Defence'. Heres Hammer's version of "Unconditional Love" (Stream) which was originally a track from the late 2Pac, that appeared on Pac's Greatest Hits. Hammer DID record material with 2Pac, one track they did was a remake of the Ohio Players Skin Tight titled "Too Tight", it was Hammer's concept, but Pac wrote his verse & I believe brought in Ebony on background vocals....... Our classic this week is non other than Souls Of Mischief's "93 Till Infinity" (Stream). These 4 Oakland MC's, A-Plus, Tajai, Opio, and Phesto Dee changed the face of the Westcoast underground scene. Update Bay Area songstess, emcee, poet & Digital Underground affiliate, Mystic, has dropped her debut album "Cuts For Luck & Scars For Freedom". This is on some ill, lyrical, mellow tip, which is something ive not heard in a while. Production from Shock G, The Angel, A-Plus, Spontaneous, Chops, Amp Live, and others. Here is my first pick 'Neptunes Jewels' (Stream) prob by Sample 208. Next up, the future west coast anthem "W" (Stream) featuring Planet Asia, produced by Spontanious & Relative, this one makes our song of the week. Mystics father passed of a heroin overdose 2 yrs ago, which is the concept of the emotional "Fatherless Child" (Stream). "It's about how we go through pain, struggle, heartache and loss and how we question who we are and what this world is about. But there's always some kind of brighter day, but not in the sense that it will be alright because for some people, it's never alright. But I hope with my album that people can cool out and get some peace. That would make me happy." Shes spot on! (Buy Here) You Death Row Records fans will be pleased to know that there is life at the label. The latest addition to the roster is to be none other than the greatest MC/Producer/Songwriter of all time!
